Antoinette Lierman Medlin Scholarship Award Fund

The Antoinette Lierman Medlin Scholarship Fund will award the best proposed research project by a full-time graduate student in the field of coal geology. Each year, one award is presented for the completion of laboratory/analytical research and a second award is presented for the completion of fieldwork. Coal geology is defined by division by-laws as a “field of knowledge concerning origin, occurrence, relationships, and geologic characteristics of the many varieties of coal and associated rocks, including their economic implications.” The Fund will also support students in Coal Geology Division-sponsored field trips and short courses at GSA’s Annual Meeting.
