Fiscal Year 2007 Annual Report Highlights

 

  • The Foundation raised $704,456 in contribution revenues from 5,808 donors during the fiscal year.  Of this amount, dues contributions totaled $169,271. Gifts for the Greatest Needs Fund constituted 39% of the overall total ($274,738.)  The 5,808 donors during FY07 is a record for the Foundation. This compares to 5,769 during FY06.
  • The Foundation transferred over $582,000 to GSA.  The Foundation also provided about $27,000 in Matching Student Travel Grants for the Sections, and provided over $21,000 in matching funds for the Section Endowment Funds. FY06 transfers to GSA were $632,972.
  • In April, the Foundation assumed responsibility for its own accounting activities with installation and implementation of a Financial Edge software package, used in conjunctive with the Raiser’s Edge software package.
  • The Foundation continued to develop policies plus internal and external controls to ensure conformance with Best Practices procedures and to place our organization in line with today’s standards of auditing and accounting.
  • The Cornerstone Initiative of the Foundation’s extended 25th Anniversary Campaign continued.
  • A new standing committee was implemented as the Committee on Donor Intent. The Foundation now has five standing committees including the new one plus Executive, Finance, Development, and Nominating.
  • The GSAF website (www.gsafweb.org), placed into operation in July, 06, has an impressive number of users, including those who utilize the on-line option for making donations.
  • Four Trustees will leave the Board at the conclusion of the October Annual GSA Meeting in Denver. Those Trustees are: Robert Hatcher, Jr. current Chair of the Board; Tom Fouch, Catherine Skinner, and Lee Suttner. Seven new Trustees will start their terms at the October meeting. Four of these are replacements and three are part of a strategic plan to increase the size of the Board.
  • Newly-appointed Trustee members of GSA Committees are: Carl Fricke to the Investment Committee; Mike Manship to the Finance Committee; and Pat Leahy to the Audit Committee.
